air conditioner install

i recently took out the old a/c in my camaro to replace it with a working used one from another third gen. everything was going smoothly until i accidentally snapped one of the pieces...i got everything off the old one and onto the new unit fine except for there is this one metal bar that attaches to a long metal rod with tubing around it on the very bottom of the unit and it is the piece that, when you pull the **** that changes the temperature of the air that is blowing out (it says cooler on one side and warmer on the other i believe). basically when you pull that **** it pulls the bar that then pulls the rod and somehow changes the temperature of the air. i have no idea how to fix this because it completly snapped off...i tried to solder it that wouldnt work ive tried everything i know how to do and i cant get it back together..

is there anything i can do for this, short of taking it to the shop...or will the shop even be able to fix this? probably nobody has any clue what im talking about but it would be kind of tough to take a picture of something like that...i guess i could try if i need to.

Are you talking about the levers in the control head mounted to the dash, or something under the hood?
