When my 89 formula 305 auto with 64000 miles idles for a few minutes it has a really bad smell coming out of the exhaust. It is so strong it burns your eyes. It will also smaoke a little after it idles for a while.

Do you have a MAP or MAF sensor??

 

Does it smell like rotten eggs? That could mean time for a new catalytic converter...

Does it smell like rotten fish? That could mean you have some pranksters playing a mean joke on you!

The watering eyes number usually happens when the timing is advanced too far or the PCV valve or EGR is stuck. Pull the pcv and see if it rattles when you shake it. If not, replace it.

If it smells fishy, it could mean he has an unsanitary female car. This points to the old dilema of whether or not the STANK is worth the reward. Hmmm......depends on how long it's been since pu~~y time.

at some point I managed to get some kind of trashbag snagged on the exaust clamps,then sizzled itself to the pipe.I couldn't figure it out at first,the car was running fine but smelled like @$$. one of these days I'll get under there and scrape it off,what a stench!

 

right after I had the 3 inch cat put on, my exhaust always smells like rotten eggs. the car runs great, just always that smell. Oh well
