ok guys heres my build so far

i picked up a rebuilt 350 from a 69 ss elcamino
my guess is about 375hp-400hp (afterdriving it in the elcamino)

i droped in the motor and put some extra goodies on it
(poly mounts, chrome valve covers etc check out my site in my sig)

but never the less i cant get it to start

i know the motor works but i cant get her to run now

she never ran im my car but i did drive it b4 i droped her in

im starting to hit the end of my rope with gettin pissed on because im 19 and most places around here dont take me serious when i go to them.....ie. BBC in linden NJ, if your not 40 with a 73 or earlier muscle car he does not want anything to do with you..... so im sortof stuck on my own

**** ill even pay one of u guys if u can fix my **** up

the motor is completly in and bolted up the fuel lines are hooked up and all the electric stuff is hooked up

i think its the timing but i dont know for sure

The distributor is probably in backwards.

Find the #1 compression stroke, by having somabody bump the engine slowly with the starter while you put your thumb over the #1 spak plug hole; then as soon as you feel compression, turn the engine until the #1 piston comes to the top. Look at the rotor. You'll probably find that it's pointed to the #6 plug wire.

The grinding noise is either the wrong starter, or The Starter Problem with the block. What did the starter sound like when the motor was in the El Camino?
