Start Up=Blue Smoke
I did a search and didn't find exaclty what I'm looking for. When I start my car, it puffs out a pretty good amount of blue smoke and was wondering if it's the valve seals. It has a little more then 84,+++ thousand miles on it...I'm going to have a shop do it...if that's what it is. That blue smoke is VERY embarresing when I start it up in front of a bunch of people.....any info would be great. Thanks fella's
P.S. if it is the valve seals....they wouldn't have to take the heads off would they?

yeah very embarrassing indeed, my 88 iroc-z 5.7 did it and my 88 formula 350 did it. but my current car does not, but i am expecting it any time since it's getting older (76,000 miles).
my grandfather said it was he valve seals both times.

Yup, its the seals. My 88Iroc did that at 60,000 miles and I put in new seals myself at about 80,000 miles. Got 120,000 miles and no smoke on startup. Now it just leaks oil. Unknown source but just too lazy to tear into it for a quart month.
