Smoking
Smoking
Ok when my car sits for more than 8 hours, when I crank it up a good bit of white smoke comes out the exaust.. Im not sure if this could be a head gasket or valves but I would assume that if it was valves it would be blue..Anyone??

Valve seals would be blue smoke but to tell the truth, sometimes its hard to tell the color. Do the usual: check the water level and oil level over time. A compression check would tell if a cylinder is weak but since these plugs are such a PIA to remove, that is a tough job. I've only been a member for a short time but I cannot believe how common the valve seal trouble is. What you describe is typical of leaking seals.
color
yes it is hard to tell the color somtimes, I have checked the levels over time and no change, but if it's oil your not going to see a diff cause just a few drops of oil in there creates a good bit of smoke but also looses comprsion.. In think im going to have to check the compression..

If the compression is good, do the seals. I have a feeling that everyone has this problem with these engines, its time consuming to change the seals but not expensive if you do it yourself, probably aroung $50 for seals and gaskets.

As long as leaking valve seals was the only thing wrong with an engine, the spark plugs could be damaged if the leaking was bad. If you pull a plug and it was oily, then it could lead to reduced power due to fouling. If you find one plug with oil on it, you can count on finding more. When I installed new seals on my 88Iroc 305, the plugs looked pretty good and I didn't notice any change one way or another after the job was done but the smoke was gone.
