Mmmm... I think I made a mistake... (wrong heads?)
Mmmm... I think I made a mistake... (wrong heads?)
I just ordered some new heads... this ones to be exact:
http://www.procylinderheads.com/223260020a.asp
Anyways, I'm pretty sure they are too big for my setup...
It's a 350 with a 216/228 cam... 10:1 compression...
I already have the heads... I just don't know how the engine is going to respond with them
Any ideas?
Will a better cam fix the problem? or are they just too damn big that I should start looking for a 400?

Did you get the 64cc or the 72cc chamber?
Notice under Application: "Max Street performance, oval track & drag bracket, 383 - 400cu" up to 7500rpm."
Sounds like it flows pretty high...but at least a 64cc chamber wouldnt be very radical for your engine size. 72cc would definitely be too big though... Plenty of 302/305's are running 60 or 65cc chambers...
Provide more info on the cam also...I assume those durations are at .050. What's your lift rated at the cam?

Yes, that's at 0.50, an this are the lift numbers: .454
and .480

I think that the heads are way too big for a 350. Your bottom end will be really soggy until you reach really high RPM's. I personally wouldn't go over 190 cc's. 220's will kill your low end torque.

Huh.... It's a high performance cam, but it doesnt have much duration and it's pretty low-lift.... Havent seen that before....
Maybe it's in the lobe shape.....

You could always make a nice 383
I bought a set of AFR 210cc (really 215cc) Race Ready heads for my new 383.
Course I'm gonna use a 2 inch 4 hole spacer and a big roller solid cam.
