Remote Starter Solenoid starting problem!

I just installed the remote starter solenoid as outlined in the tech section. The car starts up every time; however, the starter motor doesn't disengage until about 2-3 seconds after the car has started. What I hear is the typical high pitched metal on metal/gear on gear sound.
Any ideas, suggestions?
Oh, just to note: I have the lifetime guarantee starter from O'rielly's so when I pulled my old starter out, I exchanged it for a new-rebuilt one. Possibly could it be the starter or the new remote solenoid??

Shouldn't this be in the Electronics board?

A lot of remote starter have either a timed solenoid, or an RPM switch, either of which you can choose.

I would find out if yours has an RPM switch and hook it up. Most of them release the starter after the RPMs have reached ~400.

From what I can see there is not an adjustable RPM switch on this solenoid. If it's timed how can that be changed or can I get another solenoid with different timing? The solenoid I have is a Borg Warner part that is supposedly equivalent to the Wells solenoid F496 used in the tech article.

I just realized you're talking about doing this.

Never mind. I though by "remote start" you meant the ones you can start your car from inside the house to warm the car up.

I stewpid

From what you're experiencing, I'd look at replacing the solenoid. It sounds as though it's staying closed longer than it should be.
