car is bucking badly............
I have an 87 iroc with a 305tpi in it. My problem is that when I'm driving on the freeway and I try to go and pass somebody the car starts bucking really bad and I either have to floor it or drop it in to drive inorder to get it to go without bucking. Now the strange thing is that it does this at almost any speed and it also does it when I'm just driving down the street in drive and try to give it some gas to get up a hill or something. It's really making me mad that I can't drive normally any help at all would be appreciated since I am new to the tpi stuff.

My car is doing the same thing as yours nellies. Still have not been able to get a defint answer. Some of suggested the Throttle Position Sensor may be bad our out of adjustment...but not sold on that idea yet. Help us out guys.

Could it be something as simple as the timing being off spec? Could the distributor cap/rotor have excessive carbon tracking on the inside terminals?

Does it do it when your accelerating slowly form like a stop light? Cruising down the highway and you accelerate slowly? Stomp it and nothing happens for awhile? A little hard of starting?

I'd have to agree with 86 Trans Am. After replacing my FP my car hasnt hesitated on stomping on the gas yet.

If it is bucking, you also may want to have your transmission checked out. If power isn't being transferred to your wheels, it may be going into bucking the car around. Mine did it just a little, a few months befor the transmission died.

Sounds like you have the problem mostly with the engine under load, and that usually indicates ignition problems. What shape is the plugs, wires, and cap& rotor in? Primarily the wires. Not having a wire fully seated is enough to build up carbon & carbon tracking, and will wreak havoc on the drivability of an engine. Check the easy stuff before condeming the fuel pump and transmissions.
Even if you just did a "tune up" or whatever, make sure all the wires are fully seated, etc...
