heads for my 305

havin a hard time choosin what to do. i have three options. i want the best performing heads out of these three regardless of cost:

Port/polish Stock LB9s
World Products S/R torquer 305 heads, port/polish
113 casting aluminum vette heads (58cc chamber) port/polish

to go with the aluminum vette heads i have to raise the compression up 1pt to 10.50 and thats going to take a lot of time to figure out the exact amount of planing and decking i need to do

what heads are going to give me the best performance regardless of the cost.

I would port the 305 heads if I was keeping it. I wouldn't invest much money into a 305, but porting doesn't cost much if you do it yourself. Just my opinion.

You don't "have" to raise the cr just cause you switched to
aluminum heads.

Would be nice but not an absolute nessessity.

that being said, the Corvette L-98 aluminum heads when properly ported have the most power potential.
You would want to give 'em the full wammy.
Shave about .040" off 'em and use a thin head gasket.
Good enough. If you got the doe, go for it.

You'll have to weight out wether the cost of getting other
heads is justified as your "LB9 heads" have loads of performance potential with porting and larger 350 sized valves.
The ports are the same as L-98 cast heads. Only the chamber and stock valve size is smaller.

very interesting. so basically the only real advantage of the vette heads is the weight reduction (50lbs) and their easier to port, but i think im gonna have someone do to bowl work for me anyhow. thanks

oh yah the only other question i had was are the 1.94 valves even nessisary or are the stock sizes suffiicient. is there a math equation i can do to figure out what my engine will require and stuff.

If you want more airfow then the larger 1.94 valve combined with generous porting is the way to go on a modded 305 head.

You won't get near as good results with the stock sized 1.84" valves reguardless of the porting.
If power is what you are after the larger valves and porting are the way to go.

They're nessessary.

Keep in mind if you shave that much off the heads, you'll want to do the same to the intake. Otherwise your intake ports won't match up with your intake ports on your cylinder heads.
