When I start modding....what should I start with??
Right now my car is 100% stock down to the air cleaner. I was thinking exhaust but someone said gears and I may lose low end power w/ the headers and 3" exhaust. What should I do?

shift kit, high stall torque converter,4.11 gears, cam (to accomodate the lower gear ratios),MSD ignition, underdrive pulleys,K&N,polygraphite bushings......just some ideas in a logical manner get educated before you waste money, this is a great place to start. save your car too, thats the best mod, theres no sense in investing $$$ in your ride if your going to race it into the ground in three months flat.factor in the cost of speeding tickets.always take care of your brakes/steering first!

What rear do you have? If it's a 9 bolt you're screwed. You can get used 3.45s out of a 5spd car or spend about $400 for a set of 3.70s. I wouldn't worry about the rear for now. You need to get K&Ns, airfoil, afpr, port your plenum, gut the cat, get a good (not edelbrock) catback, and then get a good (not hedman) set of headers. Headers should come last.

personally i dont think you should mess with gears until the later stages of modding.
because by the time your done with your engine and tranny, you will better be able to know where your powerband is and can select the right gears for your application (street or strip or both?)
btw unless you have a T56 trans, 4.10 gears are WAY too much.
I would start with intake and exhaust first. free up your intake with K$N, airfoil, port the plenum, afpr. then get a full exhaust like you said. 3" is good, 2.5 would probably better for low end torque, and headers. then you can get your tranny to shift quicker. with either a shiftkit(auto) or some sorta short-throw shifter if your manual.
dont mess with a Torque converter until your motor is "completed" again the powerband arguement.
good luck!
