Oil Pressure Gauge Reading

I just bought an 88 IROC with 5.7TPI. The oil pressure gauge seemed to work intermittently. It turned out that the sending unit was leaking, so I had it replaced.

The thing is now pegged all the time at 60psi. This is obviously not correct.

What would a "normal" reading be when the car is cold started? What would a normal reading be when the engine is warmed up and idling?

Does anyone know what I should be looking for to adjust this properly?

60 may be correct. best thing to do is screw a mechanical gauge in the block somewhere and read the oil preasure directly that way. then you'll know if your factory gauge or sender is wrong.

No adjustment is possible.

Pegged is normal for a cold start.

20-30 hot idling and 50-55 cruising are fairly normal indications for this type of engine.

Full scale or beyond all the time usually means the wire isn't hooked up, or perhaps is broken. Check the connection.
