A weird sound coming from under the hood

Hey for the past two days i keep getting a sound when i press the peddle a bit..
then when i go full or half throttle it stops..
it sounds like a howling or screchin sort of sound?
any idea what it could be?
i replaced the belt like in auguest so i dont think it should be the problem

Man, are you sure that belt is tight? I don't know much about your car, but if you have an idler pulley, see if it's frozen up. If that's not it, I'll bet your alternator or water pump is slipping.

Many, many, MANY years ago, I had an old Volvo wagon as a parts go-fer and all around beater and the belt tension pulley froze up and the belt started howling like you described. Of course it was smoking too!

water pump slipping. maybe alternator, but if it's constant, water pump. power steering usually groans instead of screaming.

It's not very uncommon for the serpentine belt tensioner to seize up. I've replaced quite a few of them. Try to loosen it as you would to change the belt, then let it loose. It should return back to the belt, and have some tension on it.

Good Luck!
