pinned oil pressure

I just replaced my 305 with a 350 engine and we've replaced everypart with a new one. The problem is that when we started the engine, the oil gauge was pinned which to me I guess is somewhere close to 100. At first we didn't realize it and gave it some gas. That blew out the rubber ring to the oil filter and we lost all the oil. It happened 3 times in total. So we refilled it and let it run on idle for a while and the oil pressure slowly dropped to where it should be, but every time we give it a little gas enough to bring the engine to 1500 rpms, the gauge shoots up to 60. I don't wanna give it anymore gas cause that would blow the rubber ring again. Does anyone know what the culprit can be? I was told it could be the check ball on the oil pump getting stuck. Any thoughts? thanks.

there is a threaded adapter inside the block that the oil filter attaches to. remove that (two bolts) clean it out or replace it! go from there I cant think if the guage reads that high when it happens but, I have seen a few 350 trucks keep blowing oil filter seals when the adapter gets clogged

I am using 10w-30 grade oil. That threaded adapter was the only piece from my 305 that I transferred over. It's got two bolts and we made sure we put it in correctly. We also checked to make sure it was clean. So, I'm guessing it's ok. We've decided to replace the oil pump tomorrow because we can get it for about 20 bucks new, so we'll see if it's the problem.

Well, no luck today. We put in a brand new oil pump and it still gave us the same problem. Would that threaded adapter that the oil filter screws into make a difference if it were installed backwards? We looked on my old engine and the bigger side with the spring went towards the front of the engine, but when we checked another engine, the piece was facing the back of the engine. I can't imagine how that would change anything, but we're still getting a lot of oil pressure. Today it dropped around 30 psi, but every time I took the rpms about 1200 it shoots up to around 60. We are all clueless here and need help please.

Could it be one of the oil passage plugs in the block is missing or down too far (blocking the passage)? Just an idea...
