radiator hoses are sucking down flat??

radiator hoses are sucking down flat??

My car is overheating. I replaced the radiator, both fans and the thermostat. the car still heats up and when I stop the hoses are sucked flat. help. My car is a 89 5.7 tpi

Sounds like when the engine cools off, the system becomes negativly pressurized when the vapor inside condenses. A clogged puke tank line would cause this. Also, did you put in a new radiator cap as well? An old cap will lead to boilovers and coolant loss if it doesnt maintain the proper pressure.

along the same lines, the rad cap may be faulty,


I would replace the cap and see what happens

I agree. But, make sure to get a vented cap. I have made the mistake of getting a cap off of the shelf myself and getting one that wasnt vented......
