code 53

I'm curious on what to do next. My car has been intermitently hesitating as I accelerate. I can have it full throttle and the car won't do anything, then once it gets going it will really take off and drive fine. My question is I am receiving a code 53, could this be causing this condition? Namely, "high voltage at exhaust recirculation valve"?? If so, what do I do to fix it?? Thanks in advance fellas!!

FB,

What year/engine do you have? a '53' could be either the EGR fault or a system overvoltage.
