wierd start problems?
alright here goes nothing. i have an 89 firebird formula 350. a recent problem of mine is i get into the car and it wont start. this is tottaly random. there seems to be no pattern of weather or when its hot or cold, it could be in the morning or after driving 20 minutes. it cranks has fuel starts and first then dies imediately every time after it just cranks, sometimes if i come back ten minutes later it will start. the fuel pump primes , car starts when it wants to and can run at wot fine no hesitation no bogging no spark issues. i have new plugs cap rotor fuel filter, basically its fully tuned. please this is a major issue any ideas??? i need the beast running reliable again!
start with the basics....when it won't start do you have 1 spark(at the plugs) 2 fuel pressure and if you have pressure are the injectors firing. Also how many miles are on the ignition(module, pickup coil and coil)old ignition parts can be the cause of plenty of weirdo start troubles.................if it has over 80 thous miles on these parts i replace um all, prolly less than 75 dollars if you do the work yourself. Also you might want to check battery, wiring and fuse connections.Quick look just to be sure somethings not corroded or a fuse thats corroded or not properly seated. Its also possible the ignition switch is faulty.....if it runs in the start position but everything dies in the run position..its possible the switch is faulty.
