Hey guys I am looking to buy an L98 from a wrecking yard to rebuild now, my LB9 TPI runs like new so I want to build this engine now while I have no time pressures to complete this project and I can do some other mods during rebuild since time is not a factor so my question is how can I be sure I am buying a L98, any codes, casting numbers, etc. that will tell me.

get teh vin and put it through the vin decoder on this page... its still here isnt it?

 

You may be better off buying a 350 crate shortblock with one piece rear main seal (depending on your future plans of course), then switching your tpi over (bigger injectors and heads of your choice).

89 formula, L98.

 

You can get a Bare shortblock, single rear Main, from Summit for 600 Bucks.

4 bolt, very Nice Block IMO, if you are going to Do a Complete, performance build, this is the way to go.
