Stock Rods/Pistons

I have posted earlier messages about pistons and connecting rods. I forgot to ask though, how much horsepower/torque and how high of an RPM can the stock pistons and rods handle? Would I be ok on them with a cam, ported heads, headers, and a ported intake? Thanks.

shouldn't have any problems. the weak link is the bolts. buy a set of arp rod bolts.

I'm sure my engine failed from a stock rod bolt finally letting go but all my performance results below were with a completely stock bottom end (short rod stroker) and cast pistons.

When it finally let go, it let go in a big way. Everything stayed inside the engine but very little was salvageable.

I was also shifting at 6400 rpm.

Hmmmmm, sounds like I'll definitely factor a set of ARP Wave Loc rod bolts into the budget for my L98 rebuild!

Anybody else have any experience with stock pistons/rods/crank on a modified L98? What RPM should I not exceed? Thanks.

Out of those 3, the rods are the issue. I wouldnt wind it up much past 6000 on a stock bottom end. If you change the bolts and balance it, 6500 should be fine, 7000 is pushing your luck on stock rods.
