mods for 92 305 tbi
mods for 92 305 tbi
I believe my car is basically stock. So my question is would it be better to build up the 305 w/120k or buy another motor. Also where can I buy a shift kit and what other mods should I do. Also can any muffler shop make my firebird dual exhaust and would an x-pipe or h-pipe benefit these cars.....also with most bolt on mods and say 4.10 gears what kinda 1/4 times should I expect and how much hp? Include which motor you are talking about with times and hp numbers.

i'd say start by modding the 305. it'll get you more familier with the car before you get serious. just make sure that any expensive parts you buy will work on the next engine also. might as well wade in the water and walk to the deep end rather than just diving right in deep.

I agree, start samll get used to the power, then go big
The straight exhaust depends on what state you live in, and if there are smog tests, if you have them the exhaust shop may be hesitant.
You need to put on headers and exhaust first though, most of that should fit on and sb chevy you may put in later, but check it out. 4.10 gears will make you car a low to mid 14's car if I had to guess, with good headers and exhaust.

True dual exhaust isn't made to fit very well on the F-bodies unfortunately. If you do get it, it'll be hanging preeetttty low.
Shift kit, easy to find. Look on Summit or JEGS for a kit for the 700-R4. TransGo makes a good shift kit. The B&M one is cheaper, but it's for a reason.
I'd say a TBI 305 with heads, a cam, roller rockers, exhaust, a rear end, and a good solid tranny with a shift kit could run maybe mid to low 14's on street tires.
