283 crank fit in a 305?
I was looking for a test motor for a dirt car and I came upon the idea of a 305 with a 283 crank for high revs. would it fit?

267 is a **** of a motor but it will take heads like a 350, 327, 302 and etc( 202 intake & 160 exhaust). Unlike our 305's so whats the real **** motor everyone has there own idea.
283 rock if you ask me. I had a origanal 283 Power Pac in my '84 F41 Camaro after the HO died. *** 7000rpm came like nothing(no real high speed power). **** its a classic in my book. Hell it was even the Vetts claim to fame at one time. I wound it up one time too many though(it was build in a back yard in the dirt). The 262(is'ant this the smallest V8 Chevy Built?) that replaced it was nothing, it was a high rever to though just no power, it show sounded like you was moving though. I say use a 283 crank and a 327 block that shoulid give you what 302ci?

I'm not looking for alternatives btw, I just wanna know if there are any 3" stroke cranks for large journal motors. preferably 1 piece main seal

Sigh........... even if it were a high rev engine what are you going to put it in, a rail? GM made production 267's 4.4L they sucked, same stroke as a 305/350 same ballancer as a 305 and less power. Weird combo's dont usually work out well especially since thier are more potent choices that dont need to be altered to run well.
If you were to bore the 305 out and use 2.02 intake valves it might have to be notched. A 60 overbore comes close to fitting the larger valves but I just dont think it'll clear completely. As far as pistons for the 305 call local machine shops. They still have sources that are not avalible online and can get the parts you want.

302 is a 350/327 block with a 283 crank.
A 307 crank in a 350/327 block is a 327.

super chevy had this whole thing on making not so good engines power houses... or at least giving people other options.
Ideas for 305's they had
267/276 ci Screamer
You need a crank out of a 265ci in 94 or the 262 crank available in 75 & 76. the 262 crank would give you the 276 ci motor.
290 ci torquer
Uses teh 307's or 327's crank in a 305. The longer stroke would make more torque then the screamer.
I think these motors have yet to be discoverd. the 267 suffers from the same fate as teh 305 as the bore is very small, but in the case above, you are using a larger bore and shorter stroke of the 267. I think the 267, 276 or 290 would make a great little street motor.
