For those of you who know casting numbers....

We just tore into a buddies 84 berlinetta...has some 350 in it. Put together by 3 spider monkeys and a 6 year old. Wiring everywhere...bolts tightened down to like 1680 ft lbs. Its terrible.

The heads on it are casting numer 280. I figure they are smog heads but I was wondering if they are decent or scrap.

according to this site it is a 79-82 267 head...I hope his engine isnt a 267 that would suck...im sure a 79-82 267 would have to be a terrible engine.

Well I had the numbers wrong. We cleaned it off real good and guess what...its a 305 for sure.

He is still mad because it was "supposedly" a 350/5 speed 84 berlinetta. It was originally a v6 car so many things were changed. And of course they didn't do it right so we are tearing the car down and redoing it.

Oh well looks like its an lg4....

speaking of casting numbers... i just got a set of 187's FROM A FRiend and i am going to port them myself just to see if there is any improvement... i have an lo3 and i am going to remove the swirl in the valve area. as well as clean it up a little... well according to that site the 187's from the 305's were available from 87-91. i have a 92 camaroi havent bothered to look at the numbers on the heads but are they diffrent than the 187's??? i will pull the valve cover today when i get home and see what the number is.

The years listed are the years the engines were cast, not the year of the cars they went in.
