How hard is it to...
I will hopefully be the proud owner of an 88IROC parts car after tomorrow that runs well and only needs an alternator. My question is how hard is it and whats involved with swapping out the IROC's 145mph speedo and cluster into my 89 RS?? And can this be done by anyone with some mechanical abilities?? I am using the IROC for the TPI and some other goodies.
Thanks alot

wow man, you're off by one year!
i have an '87 iroc parts car and a '88 rs.
anyway, if both are the old style clusters (the circular guages, not have circle) then the swap is easy.
i had to take the dash pad off to get to the retainer on the speedo cable, the hardest part is getting that off. it will snap back on easy though. you might have to lower the steering column a bit also.
one last thing, be sure to check the back of both clusters to make sure all the electrical contacts are in the same place.
tell me when you're ready to swap motors.
have fun!
