Yeah, my MAC man tells me every week that he's ready to sell me a new box.

I have one of the Mac Tech 1000 boxes, just the lower box. It is very nice. I have had for about 2 years and it looks like new still. The only thing is they are not cheap. Snap on makes good boxes and so are the Craftsmen ones. I have a craftsman box at the house. Its too small for work use, but it is good for home.

It all comes down to preferance. Everybody has there own taste in tools and bickering over which one is better is pretty pointless. I buy almost all Snap On and really like them so I will continue to buy them. I like Channel Lock for pliers and only Klein for screw drivers and electrical tools ( crimpers, wire strippers, and such). There are a lot of cheap people who will not agree with paying their prices, I always figured **** em', it's my money.

Don't know if this will help or make it more confusing. Here is a website that explains who made what tool.

I buy Nike sneakers even though they cost more but mainly because they make you jump higher. Good article by the way Kamikaze.

I have mostly Craftsman in my box, and can tell you from experience, dollar for dollar, Craftsman is the way to go... I have a 3/8" ratchet set I have had since I took auto machanics in highschool in 1990.... I have broke headbolts loose with that ratchet and a 2' cheater bar on two different engines before I finally broke down and bought a breaker bar, I have even used it as a hammer once or twice.... I still have that ratchet, and yes it still works fine....

Hey, they don't have a Snap-on Truck series racing do they????

Interesting article Kamikaze. Most tools companies sell the exact same tools as their competitors do. The most recent one i came across was a wire stripper that both craftsman and snap-on sold, the snap on one costed about twice what the craftsman version did...and they were both the exact same tool, just with a different name on them.

Thats why i tend to stick with craftsman if i can, i think i might of said earlier that i buy everything craftsman but there's a limit as to what you can get from them. If you need a ball joint press or some highly techical tool, snap-on or mac is the only way to go.

What the real question is, i think, is why Kamikaze felt the need to reply to a thread that's been dead for 3 months.

Professional

CM has a line of professional tools(wrenches and ratches). They are just polished than having the cast and smooth finish. Seems like a higher quality. I'm no pro, but dollar for dollar CM is my preference. For specialized tools, I would go with the designer brand. Personally If I am in business, I would have both.. CM for the usuall stuff and Snap on for specialized tools. It's just like airfare... why pay more to sit in a btter lookin plane if the maintnce crew was the same? Both are good and will get the job done.
