Belt Routing
Belt Routing
Ok, so, by searching, i found out that removing all my smog crap will not be a problem. i figured i'd get constant codes but that is not the case. but, i have another problem. when i bought the car, i knew the a/c needed work. what i didnt know is that the ac condensor is GONE. well im not gonna fawk with it so im just going to pull the whole shebang out. i've seen people with a/c pumps remove the air pump with no problem, but what about removing the ac AND the air pump? should i just buy the ac delete pulley? is there another alternative? i think the pulley is my best bet but i wanna ask the pros! anybody gonna talk me outta removing the a/c?
thx,
Max

WOW can you elaborate on that alittle more? What did you grind to make it adjustable? Id like to do away with that bracket as well. Its just and ugly waste of space...also what length is the belt.
I run serpentine with no AC compressor or smog pump...My voltage does drop some when I turn alot of accessories on BUT it did that even with stock setup...I ran the belt in the stock pattern but OVERTOP of the tensioner...BTW there is 2 different serpentine belt routings...this is from my 88...you can sorta see how I ran the belt over the tensioner...also that gay mechanical fan is gone...back to electric.

I can't get pics now because it's all torn apart (heads off), but I think my belt is a 50". The belt length will depend on the size of your pullies. I think a 49.5" belt would fit mine better with less adjustment needed but I think you'd have to loosen your WP pulley to get the belt on. Basically I loosened the bolts that hold the alt. removed the rear bracket and the top-left bolt on the front of the alt. Then I used a die grinder to modify the bracket. You could either slot the bolt hole on the bracket or just install the bolt outside of the bracket so it doesn't go through the bracket anymore. Hard to explain without pictures sorry!
