Advice needed on heater core replacement

Hey Guys/Gals,
For the last few weeks, I have had wet floors in my 1992 Camaro RS 25TH Heritage Edition (Passenger and driver side). The liquid isn't green, doesn't smell(like antifreeze anyways), and isn't greasy feeling. I called a local garage, and they said they thought it could be the heater core's valve draining?? I'm a novice at car repair, so I have no idea what to think?
I do have a guy that said he would beat the garage's price, and he is ASE certified, so I think Ill let him do it.

What are the bare essentials that I have to remove to get to the heater core?
And any other important things I may need to know before starting this would also be of great help!
I hope to see lots of responses please!
Thanks

If it doesn't look like antifreeze, it doesn't smell like anitfreeze, and doesn't fell like antifreeze, it's probably not antifreeze!

There is no valve on your heater core: the guy you talked to is an idiot.

And if it was your heater core, you would have fluid on your passenger side only, not the driver's side too. Get that bad heater core idea out of your head, it's not your problem.

It would really help if you posted your location when you registered...I would know your climate/weather. Anyway, has it been raining or snowing lately? If so, check your weatherstripping along your doors and t-tops if you have them.

The only other thing I can think of is that your cowl vent is leaking morning dew/condenstion into your interior through your ventilation. I'm not exactly sure how the cowl vent is supposed to prevent this, so maybe someone else can help you with that.

I live in Southern Ohio.
It stays wet even when it hasn't rained outside. I was thinking that the cowl vent might have been a potential problem. I dont have t-tops (nor want them)
Hope I covered everything

One obscure place I've heard of these cars letting water in is where the engine harness passes through the passenger side fender to go to the ecm. There's tar around the wiring harness where it passes through a hole in the inner fender. Sometimes this can leak if it has been disturbed somehow. However, you would only have water on the passenger side front floorboard if this is your problem. I'd definitely rule out a heater core problem, unless you're running straight water in your engine! As far as any drain valve, the only thing that would make sense there is if they're suggesting that the drain for your A/C evaporator core is plugged and overflowing into the car when you run the A/C.
