L98 FUEL PUMP... is it goin south?
Ok. here is the situation i have yet to chek the FP setting on the car BUT.. recently the pump has started to run-on after you shut off the engine for like 5 seconds or a little more. The noise was a slow whine then it went to a deep droan/groan. When the car operates normally during driving...the pump seems awfully loud (to me anyhow). ANyone have any ideas?
Also .. what pump should be purchased (mfg., FP/LPH rating, etc.)
Thank you!!!

My original pump started groaning when it was on it's way out. The right way to check is by monitoring fuel pressure under load. You can also monitor oxygen sensor output under load to see if it drops.
If you need to change the pump, get a Walbro 255 LPH unit. It can handle just about anything you can throw at it. You can pick them up for just over $100 on the internet.

NicksL98, you better pray to God it isn't your fuel pump. Thats a job you don't want to do.
Anyway, it's normal for the fuel pump to stay on a few seconds in colder weather.
Check your FP. Check for consistancy also.
You won't need a Walbro pump unless you plan on doing some serious mods. You can get an Ac Delco for $69.99 at any Autozone
