Why does my car run better when cold?

Even though I have a ram-air setup on my carbed 305, my car still runs a lot stronger when its cold. Why? It also has a different exhaust tone, which is much deeper. What causes this change? Thanks

Probably running richer when it's cold and it like the extra fuel.

The air is also colder since the intake, etc. is still cold, which makes the air denser, which will produce more power.

I'm not too good with carburetors, but I know that they purposely run overly rich when the car's cold, so it won't stall while it's warming up. (Well, to be honest, fuel injected cars do the same thing too.) My guess would be that your car is running too lean once it warms up, or maybe the carburetor is adjusted properly, but the timing is off.

I don't think I can add anything but I would definaly say it's because the air is more dense. That is why one of the two reasons for having an intercooler on a turbo setup. Also the engine might be running in closed loop which would mean the engine is getting more fuel and is ignoring the oxygen sensor.
