Engine Stamping Q...w/in please...

There's a ledge on the passenger side of the motor above the water pump...I checked mortec.com and found that that is the ENGINE ASSEMBLY DATE/SUFFIX CODE...

My # is VO1116DJ. I decoded that it was made on a Jan. 11, but the rest I am confused about...it says "Chevy used one to three letters of the alphabet to code the type of engine, transmission and vehicle into the suffix code. In later years, parts of the Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N.) were also added after the suffix code. "

Any ideas how I could decode that?

Any help is appreciated, thanks

I have no listing for the 6DJ code. It may be CDJ

Re: Engine Stamping Q...w/in please...

Motor in my 34 ford hot rod is supposed to be an 86 305 from an IROCZ. Can someone decode the engine pad stamp for me?

Thanks

Re: Engine Stamping Q...w/in please...

V = Flint engine plant
0512 = May 12
PAA = 305 TBI from a 1995 pickup truck (L03)
PAA = 305 SFI from a 1500 or 2500 GM van. Unknown year
PAA = 307 which is probably unlikely.

Since a 305, 307 and 350 won't share the same casting, a casting number check can determine if it's a 305 casting or not.
