how does one determine what the proper octane rating is for a said vehicle?

owners manual or decal would be a good place to start. you'd want to run only enough to prevent ping, more octane hurts preformance and is harder to light

car isn't stock....wanted to know if their is a specific ratio or reasoning as to why ratings are chosen.

with the motor in my sig i run super or 93 octance i think it is, am i right? cause on regular i remember it deisaling but it was out of tune to
