TEmp sensor on Thermostat Houseing

There is a Temp Sensor (I belive its a temp sensor, anyhow ) On the thermostat houseing Of the LG4, What uses this ? And what Problems am I going to Run if I Remove it?

Also, Is there any reason I couldnt Just relocate it to another Coolant passage That wasnt Right On the front Of the Motor ? This is an Effort to Clean Up The Engine Bay.

If it's the one with 2 wires (yellow and black) it belongs to the ECM.

There are as many as 3 temp sensors: the one oin the left head goes to the gauge; the one in the water outlet is for the ECM; and the one in the right head (if you have that) works the electric fan.

The thermostat housing is the only location down-stream of the thermostat, which is what they wanted for that sensor.

Don't waste your money on that chinesium POS the factory used. This would be a classic case of trying to make chicken salad out of chicken s***.

Get a new cast iron one (less than $10) and expend your effort on that, you'll have a whole lot less trouble in the long run, and probably spend less money besides.

If you really need it, they make CHROME housings threaded to accept that sensor. I think it's Mr. Gasket

The sensor on the thermo housing is the ECM temp sensor. If you remove it, the computer will throw a code. BTW, there is another temp sensor on the drivers side of the block which goes to the gauge. Moving the sensor to another coolant passage shouldnt hurt, as long as its not too far from the thermostat housing so the water temp isnt very much different.
