help, no start antique 1983 CFI
alright guys car ran fine before, but was sitting outside for about a year, now it will not start, it has spark, the fuel pump is pumping fuel to the throttle bodies, but the injectors will not spray, i get 12v at the tbi's but i dont think they are getting the ecm signal, the fuel pump gets 12v when turned on and while cranking, i'm not exactly familiar with fuel injection or tbi, but will the distributor module give spark but no reference pulse to the ecm? how do i check that? any help appreciated, also i tried grounding one of the tbi and all that did was blow the fuse

The ECM see the RPM pulse from the dist and fires the injectors. I would check and possible rebuild the dist or a least clean the connection.
I as well have a 83 TA CFI and will help out as much as I can.

my 83 cfi had been sitting for 6 years. Both injectors where froze up. I got some injector cleaner and soaked them overnight. Then replaced them the next day. When they are both installed have someone in the car turn the key so that the fuel pump comes on. Dont crank the car just turn key enough so pump goes on. It stays on for about 3 seconds. While someone is turning the key tap the injectors with something. I used a wrench. Just keep doing this. You might have to hit it quite hard. I started to loose hope after 5 mins but then it started to spray. And it sprays great now. I did have to replace one. They are both different sizes. The injectors are quite expensive. like 90 bucks a pop. So i would recomend trying the free the ones you have by tapping on them. Just be patient and it should come unfroze.

Might work might I suggest some GM top engine cleaner. you can buy it at any gm dealer and will break down any sluge or carbin. I use the stuff to clean out my engine once a year. you would not beleive the black smok that rolls out after it soaks for 24hr. Might do wonders for the injectors as well.

okay i tapped on the throttle bodies and now when you turn it over, the fuel will "dribble" out and sometimes stop completely
It would be really good to check the fuel pressure. You could also verify that the injectors are or are not getting a firing signal with a "noid" light - about ten bucks at many parts stores.
I'm thinking that you may have a clogged fuel filter, clogged pump pickup screen, or clogged inlet screens on the injectors.

well if no fuel was coming out and then some started to dribble out that means its getting unstuck. Mine did that and i kept tapping. Finally they started to spray into a perfect cone shape. You can keep tring or go buy one for $90.00 an injector.
