Help on parts

Here is my original post to www.sdpc2000.com. The bottom is my post, top is their answer.

Thrust button. SD7367 (button, bolts, and plate)
Wear plate. Comes with timing set.
Lifters. Comp Cams 853x-16
Pushrods Com Cams 7809-16
Timing Chain SDCS1040

If the block you are using is a factory roller block none of these parts will work.

I'm getting ready to order the vortec head kit part #sd8060ratpi. I'm going to use comp cams xr270hr cam with this, part#cc12-422-8. I need you to tell me what parts you would recommend for this set-up. I'll need the following thrust button
wear plate
lifters
push rods
timing chain
Please include part numbers. This will be going in a 1992 z28 with the 5.7 TPI. It has a modified trans, 3.23 gear ratio, 52mm throttle body, adjustable fuel reg. headers, plenum has been ported, ram air boxes with K&N air filters, MSD coil, wires, cap, and rotor. Thank you for your time, Jeff

Now I told them what I had, why would they recommend parts and turn around and tell me they won't work in a factory roller block? Is my e-mail misleading? It is the original engine, so it is a factory roller block isn't it? Anyhoo can anyone suggest the parts I need that will FIT my engine. I think everyone on this board knows more than I do about matching parts, although I can put it all together, I just need some suggestions on what parts will work for my application. Thanks in advance to all that respond.

Maybe his last sentence was a typo and he meant to say "not"
That would make more sence.

He is correct, if it is the factory block, those parts won't work, they are for a flat tappet valve train.

For pushrods you need to get the light weight springs and pushrod length checking tool to ensure you are getting the correct length pushrods.

For a chain/gear set try Summit. CRN-10993-1 These Crane roller timing chains not only give you the accurate timing that the roller design is famous for, they also have a thrust bearing to stop the "walking" motion of your camshaft in the block for added stability.

Lifters, reuse your stock lifters (you can do that with the factory hyd rollers)
I think just about any cam button will work for you.

Some things are not adding up here.

If you have a factory roller block, get a cam made for the factory roller lifter setup like the 08-422-8, not a retro-fit type. You won't need any cam button, the cam thrust plate will be fine (unless it's been chewed up somehow), the factory-type timing set will be fine, the factory lifters will be fine unless they've been gummed up or chewed up (you'll be able to tell by looking at them), the factory pushrods will be fine unless you do something else to mess up the geometry.

If you don't have a factory roller block and want roller lifters, you'll need to use that retrofit roller cam, you'll need the cam button, you'll need the older-style timing set, you'll need retrofit roller lifters, and you'll need the proper length pushrods (frankly, I don't know what Comp says to use - you'll have to do more research - like call them).

You said you have the original engine, so go with the factory roller block route above.
