Bolt ?'s and LocTite ?'s

Can I use basic grade 8 bolts on the tranny to block mounting bolts, or are those special? Also should I put loctit on them?

personally i would say yes but i put grade 8 bolts in my lower control arms and some dude was telling me that they were special bolts just for lower control arms. i dont know how they will hold up yet until the car actually moves but i am not really concerned.

trans to engine location is achieved with dowel pins, so yes any bolt would work, grade 8 would be my choice. i use a impact and no thread locker, but it wouldn't hurt. most if not all bolts in the suspension and preasure plate bolts and made to index the parts into correct location. it's not an issue of 10,000 miles and no problems, it's a matter of how long till you have problems

Many suspension fatseners are deep case hardened with or without induction hardened threads. Regular old grade 8 fasteners are typically neutral hardened to a uniform structure. The case hardened fasteners with a softer but tougher body are better suited to the heavy impulsive loads imposed by suspension travel - just like seat belt bolts. You don't want a regular, neutral hardened bolt as a seat belt anchor.
