Suggestion on spark plug gap?

i know the stock gap is supposed to be .035, but i wanted to know if i can go higher with the few ignition mods i've done. i put a new accel cap and rotor, accel 8 mm spark plugs, and a 53,000v hypertech coil... what would be a good gap to put my plugs at to get the most power out of my setup? my friend told me .050 would be fine, but i wanted to get more opinions.

i know i won't make a SOTP differnce in power with just a coil, cap and rotor, but if i set the gap to .045 or .050 (depending which one would be better), how much more hp do you think i'd manage? 3-5hp? it's not like it would matter, it's just good to know

Uh, let's make that .035". Half an inch would be a bit much to expect a spark to jump, even with 53kV.

You could probably go .040 easily, and possibly .045. Any more than that and you'll risk blowing out the flame under high pressure conditions.

You'd probably gain as much by cutting back and rounding the corners of the ground electrode.
