Big Problem, Please help

OK so my car has been running like **** recently, It was taken to a shop where he replaced the timeing chain. Im not real sure on the quality of the work done.
After about an hour of driving the car, I noticed it was running like shi*, real sluggish and shaking badley right under my seat. Black smoke when it started and it smelt like burnt gas.

now the big promlem, after it sits for a day or so it starts fine and runs ok for about 30 miles, then starts running like crap. then it wont start back up unless you floor the gas peddle while your cranking it. When it does start you get black smoke out the back and it is real loud. It runs terrible now, you hit the gas and it freezes for a second then lundges forward.

I pulled the plugs, they were like charred black and smelt like gas. So that means the engine keeps getting flooded with gas right?

The only thing Me as a novice mechanic can think of is the tiiming chain is on the wrong tooth, am I missing something else?
thanks again
Craig

sort of logical to think the way you are that it's a tooth off, but you ought to look for other causes too, like wires wrong, bad wire or plugs, you know basic tune up stuff

Sounds to me like a fuel problem.

Give me some more info on your engine combo.
