Steering Colum

My steering Colum is Really Fricken Wobbly, Its a tilt and it wobbles from the Tilt joint, It is startnig to Get worse, So Im wondering How I can Fix this ? Is there a Part that wears out Inside or what ?

The Colum will still tilt, But then it just wobbles from the new, tilted location.

Its really starting to Bug Me, I swear it feels like its gonna come off in my hands one day Going Over a freeway overpass at 120 mph...

What you need to do is remove the steering wheel, hub and tilt assembly.there are 3 bolts down inside the column that work themselves loose.Once you remove the wheel and tilt assembly you will need a looooong extension and socket to reach those bolts.
It would be wise,if you can...to apply some lock tight fluid to those bolts. It's not to difficult.....just time consuming .
It would also be wise to purchase the tool that compresses the spring to remove the snap ring on the steering shaft.I'm not sure what the name of this tool is.It will help to make childs play out of this repair.

Yeah, what he said...

Without the tool, you'll be in for a long, frustrating afternoon of work. It's still doable but a real PITA.

Bort,

These are the bolts (Torx) that you need to tighten.

Remove them one at a time, clean the threads, apply LocTite 242, and torque them to 80 in/lb (about 6½ ft/lb). Any more will strip the die cast housing, and you'll really be screwed.

The official name for the tool is a "Lock-Plate Depresser", in case you have to ask for one from the parts store. I just got a new one (Old one decided to leave my possesion) and it was under $20.

Good luck!
