hey fellas...... it's been a while since i have been here, i have been taking my time going through the engine parts cleaning and stuff.....
i decided to take apart my afrs and make sure they were ok also..... to my suprise they had manley valves in them!
i rememberd some people complaning about quality issues like the valvesprings and stuff so i figured i'd yell and see if i could get some better details.... heres what i have planned....
i'm going to throw in some manley race flo valves and comp springs to match the cam...... also i figured i'd go all out and buy titanium retainers and 10* titanium locks for them as well, so floating issues might be helped..... do you think this is overkill for an engine thats going to be shifted at 6000rpm? thats really what i am worried about, the power band of the comp xr282hr is 2200-5800 rpm i figured a 6000 shift point would get all the power out....... but float is an issue with hyd roller cams correct?
thanks for everything....

Yeah, it's overkill, but not necessarily a bad thing to do. You're matching your springs to your cam- always a good idea. Just watch your valvespring installed height- you're making quite a few changes there. And you're payng attention to everyting that has to support that combo- attention to details is an EXCELLENT habit to get into.
My advice- call AFR and ask them. Their tech guys are excellent. They'll tell you what works and what doesn't. General recommendations might not suffice here since AFR makes subtle changes to so many areas vs. a stock factory production head.

yep!
i'm trying to really shoot with this motor this time and get everything perfect...... i talked to the guys at afr and they said the same, the whole titanium thing is overkill for a streeter like mine, so i will just get the matching springs for the cam and let it go at that i suppose...
