Need help w/ easy taillight prob!!!!

Okay, yesterday I get a ticket from some **** head cop for $85 for not having tail lights. I'm bitter b/c I think I should have gotten a warning or fix-it, but that's beside the point.
My taillights DO NOT come on when I turn the lights on. They DO come on when I signal or brake though. WTF?!
I just replaced some of the bulbs, but I still have the same problem! The taillights have 3 bulbs. The one in the center is much like a fog light bulb, the other two are normal. I replaced the two "normal" bulbs so far, but the middle one is also fried and I haven't replaced it yet. Is that the prob?

God I'm sooo pissed right now!

The tail lights and brake/TS lights are 2 separate circuits, to 2 separate filaments in each bulb.

Sounds to me like you have a blown fuse or a bad headlght switch.

had a customer with the same prob a few weeks back. some idiot, jerry rigging his trunk motor, pulled ALL the wires, including the ground that screws in by the relay. the only problem, the TAILIGHT circuit uses the same ground . check the cround by the trunk motor.

sounds like a relay went bad. check a specific manual for your car to determine exactly what wires control the taillights. will be time consuming, but relax, you'll find the problem. the ticket, the judge will drop it... just explain the story.
