Car won't start sometimes!
Nothing. Not a noise when I turn the key. Everything inside works. Here's the kicker:
#1 It wouldn't start yesterday morning so I had my dad bring me to school. When he got back he fired it right up. Bad connection somewhere? The battery's good, I know that.
#2 VATS: Won't it just "click" when you turn the key if VATS screws up? The dealer said it'll start then shut off after a few seconds? What actually happens?
Thanks!

The VATS control module senses the resistance code in the key and sends a signal to the ECM telling it if the resistance is correct. If it is the proper resistance, then the ECM will allow operation of the starter relay and the fuel injectors. If it is the wrong resistance, then the starter relay and the fuel injectors will not function. The electrics will work and the fuel pump will prime, but that is it. Sounds like either the contacts on the key is worn or the contacts in the igniton lock cylinder are worn. And no, the starter solenoid will not click if the VATS is bad since the starter relay is part of the VATS circuit.

Usually I do hear the pump prime and I hear a "click." But this time it was absolutely silent like nothing was happening at all. It did it again today at Church but only like 5 tries then it started,

If you have a spare key, try using for a while to see if you still have the problem. If the either the key or ignition lock cylinder is getting worn, you will get intermittent problems like that.
