Help in trouble shooting ESC?

OK the car died last night and hasnt started, sence than. I hit it with a shot of ether to see if turned over no luck (thinking it was a frozen gas line), a guy at work told me that the ESC can just up and die like that. How do I find out for sure?

New,

Even if the ESC died, you can bypass it by disconnecting the timing wire. If, however, you are talking about the HEI module, they can fail without warning and the only fix is to replace it.

Remove the module, take it to Ought-Tow-Zone and have it tested. Make sure there is voltage at the BAT/IGN terminal of the distributor. Make sure eh reluctor and pickup coil aren't damaged. Check the ignition coil and coil wire. Look for moisture (snowmelt) in the distributor cap and on the rotor.

Vadar your right, the HEI control is what I mean. Some I can take it out and they can test it at the good ole autozone.
