My friend wants to put an LV2 307 out of an 85 cutlass in his car and he wanted me to find out as much info about this engine as I could. So, I ask if any of you guys anything about this motor, please let me know. Thanks

What car?

The engine is dung. It's worse than the worst 305 as performance. He will spend an enormous amount of money and effort on shooting himself in the shorts, if his car has anything other than a 307 now.

the engine isn't that bad, they make great boat anchors.

Assuming that your putting this into an F-body....As far as the olds 307...I have one in my 84 Delta 88, and it can get out of it's own way, but just barely. Granted an F-body weighs much less, but the fact remains that these guys are right; it's no performance engine. For an '85, it should have about 148 hp @ 4000 (?) rpm, and 250 lb-ft of torque @ 2000 rpm. It's got good low end grunt, but it doesn't breathe at all at higher rpms....you'd spend a fortune making the swap and tons more $$$ trying to modify an engine like this, since it just wasn't built for performance. You are much better off putting in a 305 or 350 if you can, it'll swap easier and can be modified for less. Hope this helps.

Ah, yes. The Olds "marine" engine...

Even a 301 Poncho is better than that effort.
