The 85 Vette That only revs to 2600rpm??
Whats up everyone?
I have a car thats giving me fits with the extremely rich exhaust & black smoke comming out of the tail pipes. The car is a 85 350 tpi vette with a 383, 22lbs, stock intake, 262 or 264 comp cams. Does anyone know what could cause this? The car stops reving at around 2800 rpm & It starts to back fire through the intake & Exhaust. When I put it on the computer the INT was steadily going down in the 119 range & droping. The timing was set at 6deg. with the dist wire disconnected. The throttle was set at .54v . Im lost. someone please shed some light on this situation.
Thanx

any trouble codes? how's your fuel pressure? test it and see if you have a leaking injector, or a bad diaphragm in your fuel pressure regulator. That may not be the cause, but It's sure where I would start. Hope that helps.

clogged cat happened on my 86 TA, would not rev over 3000RPM in nuetral, the best thing was it probably melted over time so when I hollowed it out(I mean replaced it)the car felt like a rocket
