rough idle on 85 tpi
I swapped a 2bbl. carb system on a stock 305 w/ a tpi off a 85 Iroc and now it idles low and rough. I did not change the cam and have just found out that there was a difference in cams for these two config;s. can i just reburn the eprom or do i have to replace the cam or am i missing something else? Any help would be appreciated. The truck that its in is in Mobile Al. If i do have to burn the eprom is there anyone in the Mobile area that does it? Thanks Dean
not sure which way you went and what you ended up with, carb or tpi. you need to make all the tpi sensers and ecm work if you have tpi. if it's a non ecm controled carb you need to eliminate the ecm controls. if the carb uses ecm controls you need to make all the sensers and ecm work for it
Dean,
Welcome Aboard!
Just for clarification, you have a TPI intake installed on what was formerly a carbed 305 truck engine?
If that's the case, did you use the ECM and wiring from the TPI? Is the PROM stock for the TPI?
The '85 TPIs used a MAF, so the cam differences shouldn't make that much of an operational difference. Chances are you have some other problems.
