just need to know if the powersteering and alternator and ac brackets and stuff will hook up to the block, everything should be the same bolt holes right?

86 Firebird, LG4, t-tops, 2.73 open rear, SLP 3 inch cat back exhaust, catco cat.

Current Plans: 342 posi disk 10 bolt rear, coming in late december, in february or april, level 10 tranny, new convertor, june- lowering springs, possibly torq thrust II chrome wheels, and new 245 stickies up front, 255's out back, the cowl hood will be installed and painted, new cold air induction, mid summer, hoping to have enough money to scrape together a 350 hp 350... gonna keep things fairly mild.

The block is identical externally. The only differences I can think of has to do with the clutch pivot ball boss, and maybe needing a spin-on oil filter adapter.

The heads, however, may not be identical. Most 327s came with heads that do not have the accessory bolt holes in the ends, which is impossible to duplicate, the best you can do is (insert your choice of racial epithet here)-rig it; and all 327 heads have a symmetrical exhaust manifold bolt pattern, so the late-model manifolds with the one bolt stuck way out in the ozone (far back pass side) cannot have that one bolt installed. So you need to be sure what heads you are planning to run on it.

so does that mean, if i went out and bought some dart iron eagle heads, i would have basically a setup that i could put my edlebrock headers on, AND my accesories?

Steve

EDIT: i am assuming that the block is fairly stock, and stock compression ratio. what size chambers am i lookin for 64cc or 72cc? i am assuming that it is runnin 9-9.5 compression ratio... also what intake runner size? 180? or 200cc?

Flat-tops are common in 327s. With 64cc heads, it will be in the 9.6:1 neighborhood with 64cc heads. That's what I would suggest, or perhaps as low as 60 or 62cc which would put the CR just at or above 10:1.

Without knowing the specifics of how you are intending to build the motor, I can't be certain about the ideal runner volume; but 180cc runners on a 327 should give similar RPM characteristics to 190 or 195 on a 350. The 327 will have a tendency to have less torque at lower RPM than a 350 since it is less inches; but since its stroke is so short compared to its bore, its peak torque and therefore HP will be at a higher RPM than an otherwise identical 350.
