Intermitant no start problem
Ok guys, here is a weird one, every now and then I'll try to start the car, it will crank just fine, but it acts like it is getting no spark or gas, I'll let it sit 10 or 20 minutes and then it will start like there wasn't ever a problem. Could this be a VATS related issue?
I have this problem with both cars ( check sig)
Thanks

John,
I'm not certain about the earlier VATS systems, but I think it wouldn't even crank if the VATS was in lockout. As I said, I'm not certain of this.
It wouldn't hurt to clean the keys and contacts in the ignition switch, however. And DON'T use any oils/fluids on the ignition switch lock cylinder (or any other locks, for that matter). Graphite only.

Now that you mention it, you are right about the no cranking, several years ago someone tried to steal the car, when the actuator rod was pulled by hand the car would not crank unless the key was in the lock.
Thanks for the info on both questions
I'll try to clean the rotary fitting and see what happens.
