Crossfire
Crossfire
Ok I have been going through a lot of old posts that are talking about the crossfire engines used in the early 80's. I am noticing that the people that dislike them, dislike them because they are more difficult to hot rod out due to the intake etc.
What I would like to know is if they are altogether just hard to keep running right or unreliable/ expensive to fix. Or are they disliked purely for performace reasons?

it doesn't any more money to get the same performance out of it. you spend the same until you get to the intake. then you are limited on choices. port the stock one or get the x-ram. check out www.crossfireinjection.com and http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/ to get some of your answers. most people dislike it for it's lack of performance. we gained 1.13 secs after we took the stock exhaust off (manifolds to tailpipes) and replaced with after market stuff. the early 80's weren't the performance era. so not much time was spent getting it to make any real power.
