slippage or other?

driving home from the city last night i noticed what could either be a slipping tranny or maybe a bogging engine or something like that. The other day when i was changing the driver side AIR crap on the exhaust manifold i noticed that one of my plug wires was cracked, and then when i was driving home from that it started doing the same type of thing. Sorta like it had no power or maybe it was not firing on one of the cylinders(bad wire). So i pulled over, messed with it, and it ran fine after that. I am sorta worried that it could be my tranny going, but I haven't changed the plugs and wires for a while so i am going to do that asap, but has anybody had this problem? It is intermitent, so that confuses me a little.

sorry about the long post.

Get all the ignition stuff done first and see what happens.

A slipping tranny generally won't feel like engine power loss, but acceleration loss. You can hear the engine going normally but you're not moving like you should be.

Also, a plugwire badly fried, will make the car backfire a LOT when it's under load and it robs a crapload of power. But the problem will magically go away when you put it in neutral. That's how you tell a bad plugwire generally.
