SUCCESS!! Torx is no more...literally

Well absolutely NO little tricks or shortcuts worked...I used two carbide cutting bits to completely grind the heads off those d*** bolts. Thanks to everyone for your ideas! The ROC seems like it will live. If I had to do it again I would've bought four of those bits...steel is pretty tough. Now I live in the wonderful world of hex heads and anti-seize. Thanks again guys...by the way, what would a machine shop charge to port my intake manifold since they'll be heli-coiling a thermo bolt hole anyway? Thanks.

U ROCK,

You know, you can install a thread insert in your intake without removing it from the engine. There are several types, either Heli-Coil or captive inserts with stakes. Either one can be installed with only a drill and tap, and the chips generated can be vacuumed out of the coolant passage crossover.

As far as porting the intake, you might have a tough time finding a general machine shop that performs that kind of work. Since much of that is pretty experimental for most shops, you'll have to find a specialty speed shop that will undertake the project and then expect to pay for it. If you can find a die grinder in your tool box and a new pair of intake gaskets as templates, you can spend some time and save a little cash, all while learning something about air flows.
