If it works, it's good.
If it doesn't, it needs to be replaced if you want to keep that functionality.
There's more than one kind; the 9-bolt and the 10-bolt kinds are completely different.
There are some that are heavier duty, and some that are lighter-duty.
What would you really like to know? If you want to know something more detailed about your particular one (asuming you have one), or about one you're thinking about buying, tell us which stock one you're talking about.
