Problem with my 89 Bird
Ok, I have the car for almost a year now. It was a great buy a little over a grand and no problems yet . Except one (which i am not sure if it is a major one or not) It is a 2.8 v6 with a 5-speed. Whenever I am driving and shift after i hit the 3 grand mark on the tech it backfires. Its not the typical Loud gunshot backfire. Sounds more like it is dumping extra fuel or something of that nature. Anyone that can help fix this, or if its no big deal then i won't mess with it?

Wish I knew more about 5 speeds. Maybe those guys can chime in. I think there's some sort of valve assembly on the 5 speeds that's designed to prevent backfires....maybe that has something to do with it.
